Privacy policy

What we collect

When you use Tryhard Prep we hold:

• Your email address and, if you give one, your name. If you sign in with Google, we also get the profile picture Google shares.
• How you sign in: a Google account link, email links, or a password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way hash.
• Your study activity: every test and drill you take, your answers, how long you spend on each question, what you flag or cross out, highlights and notes on passages, the order you visit questions, when you change an answer, which tools you open, your scores, any official SAT scores you choose to report, and settings such as extended time and the interface theme.
• Purchase records: which pass you bought and when, and a customer reference from Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us.
• Basic technical logs: errors, kept briefly to keep the service running. We also set a random first-party cookie so we can tell returning visitors apart, and we record the pages you visit (with your account, if you are signed in), which page brought you here, and any campaign tags in the link you followed. That is used only to see which of our own ads and posts work.
• Referrals: if you join through a friend's invite link, we record that, and your friend sees a count of signups and purchases from their link. To stop the same card from claiming a reward twice, we keep a card fingerprint from Stripe, which identifies a card without revealing its number.

How we use it

We use it to sign you in, save your work, score your tests, show your analytics, and decide what to recommend next.

We also look at how each question performs across all students, for example how often it is missed, to find questions that are too hard, too easy, or broken. We do that with answers that do not have your name attached.

We send you sign-in links, purchase confirmations, and a few short study emails, such as a reminder if you have not started a test, a note before your pass ends, and a summary after a free test. Every study email has an unsubscribe link, and you can turn them off on the account page. There is no advertising on the site.

Who else sees it

We use a small number of services to run Tryhard Prep, and each sees only what it needs:

• Stripe processes payments and holds your card details and receipts.
• Resend delivers our email.
• Google handles sign-in if you choose that method.
• Desmos provides the calculator inside the Math section.
• Sentry receives error reports (what broke, and on which page) so we can fix problems. We do not send it your name or email.
• Our hosting and database providers store the data described above.

What we do not do

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use tracking pixels in email. We use no third-party analytics or advertising pixels. The only cookies we set keep you signed in, tell returning visitors apart with the random ID described above, and, if you followed a friend's invite link, remember that link for 30 days. No one but us can read them.

How long we keep it

We keep it for as long as you have an account. If you delete your account, we immediately remove your name, email, and sign-in methods, your notes and highlights, the official scores you reported, the notes on any problems you reported, your lesson progress, and the link between your account and the pages you visited. We send one email to confirm, and nothing after it.

Your answers and timings stay, with nothing linking them to you, because they feed the question statistics we use to improve the tests. Records of your passes stay, marked as ended. If you joined through a friend's invite link, that record and the card fingerprint described above stay too, so a reward cannot be claimed twice. Stripe keeps payment records for as long as the law requires.

Your choices

From the account page you can download everything we hold about you as a file, change your name and settings, and delete your account. If you cannot get in, or you are a parent asking about a child's account, email us and we will help.

Students under 18

Most of our students are in high school. We collect the minimum needed to run a study tool, and we do not use it for advertising. Tryhard Prep is not for children under 13. Parents and guardians can ask to see or delete a student's data at any time.
